What should I do if my condensate pipe freezes?

Short answer

Find the plastic condensate pipe running from the boiler to an outside drain, pour warm — not boiling — water along it until the ice clears, then reset the boiler.

What changes the answer

  • how much of the pipe runs outside
  • the size of the pipe
  • how exposed the run is

What you can check yourself

  • check the boiler display for a condensate fault code
  • check the end of the pipe outside for ice

What to do next

If it happens every cold snap, the pipe can be re-routed or upsized and insulated so it stops happening.
